Club Meeting – 2nd April 2008

We now have a venue for our next meeting.

Beauchamp Street Chapel
21 Beauchamp Street
Karori

It’s on the left side of Beauchamp Street as you come from Karori Road, a brick building almost at the corner with Lewer Street.

See you at 7.30 pm with your best plumbing pics and your 6 best pics taken over this summer!

Club Meeting – 19 March 2008

At our next meeting (this Wednesday) Bruce Girdwood will lead a hands-on session using Photoshop. See below for details.

But first, most importantly, where? Because the Karori Arts & Crafts Centre is still being renovated, we will meet at Clark Configuracion’s house – thank you Clark!

Address: 54B Monaghan Ave, Karori. The house is on the corner of Monaghan Ave and Hawick Street (on the right as you come up from Karori Road).
Start time: 7.30pm.

Bring your laptop if you have one and it has Photoshop loaded on it, plus an image you’d like to work on and some ideas about what you want to do with it.

To start with though, we’ll get you to upload one of Bruce’s images and he will teach us how to use various Photoshop tools on that image so we’re all working on the same thing. We’ll also have the image projected on the screen through our digital projector for those of us without laptops.

Then you can work on your own image and Bruce will do the rounds to give help as needed.

See you Wednesday at 7.30.

Club Meeting – 5 March 2008

While I would not normally send out details of club meetings, next Wednesday’s event is both a field trip and a Wednesday meeting night. Because the lubrooms are still being renovated (I am told) we will be meeting in Futuna Chapel, Friend Street, Karori at 7.30pm.

Here we will see photos taken last Wednesday night at Mt Victoria on the club’s digital projector and then you will have a rare opportunity to photograph the chapel by night. Something few people are able to do.

There is no lighting inside the chapel so we are bringing in flood lighting which will light up enough to do what we need.

What to bring:

* Your camera, tripod, flash unit, spare batteries etc.
* A warm jacket (as it can get cold in there).
* A deck chair – to sit on and watch the photos.
* A selection of 5 (only) of your best photos from last week’s Mt Vic trip.

Heuchan will bring his laptop so bring your pics on a usb flash drive or CD or DVD. Those who took film feel free to bring those alone to pass around.

Have a look what the place looks like in day time at Return to Futuna Chapel – September 2007 and Futuna Chapel.

To get to Futuna take Parkvale Road and turn onto Friend Street. About 200 metres cityward Futuna Chapel is clearly visible on your left. There is a
housing development around it. Park ON THE STREET and we will meet in the carpark next to the chapel at 7.30pm. The entrance is just around the building so if you are late walk around and come in.

This building is not open to the public but we have special permission to use it so don’t miss this opportunity. It’s not your everyday ex-church either.

First Club Meeting – 20 Feb 2008

We are meeting at 7.30pm in the carpark behind the Karori Recreation Centre accessible from Beauchamp Street, Karori near the Post Office.

Assemble outside the Karori Arts and Crafts Centre. At 7.50pm we will move to our photography location. No matter what the weather will be, we will carpool and travel to either the fine location or wet location. If you don’t have any transport there are always lots of spare seats in cars.

To pack (very important):

A camera with “charged” batteries.
A flash unit or in-camera flash
A tripod (if you have one)
A torch (also called a flashlight)- (if you have one)
A warm jacket (even if its a warm night you WILL NEED A WARM JACKET. This is Wellington.
And any other camera gear you may need.

We will be photographing items in the dark (being at night) so if you don’t have a tripod there will be objects available to position your camera on. Flash units are ideal to light up the objects you will be photographing in the dark, though you can still take pics without a flash. The torch or flashlight is for shining on the object, and setting your focus before shooting. The warm jacket is a must as we never know how cold it will get after dark.

If you have not said you are coming YOU CAN STILL TURN UP ON THE NIGHT. Everyone is welcome.

I will see you THIS Wedneday night at 7.30pm.

My cellphone number is 027 306 0192 if you get lost, arrive after 7.50pm or need more information.

Kind regards
Bruce Pool

Club Meeting – 12 December 2012

Well it is hard to believe that 2012 is now almost over. This week is
the final KCC meeting of the year.

We will be taking a look back at what we have done over the past year
and planning ahead for next year.

As originally planned Bruce Pool is running the Creative Photography
Special Interest Group as part of Wellington Photographic Society. This
is completely separate from KCC.

However, wearing his KCC hat, Bruce is also going to take a more hands
on role in the KCC as well. And do we have some good plans/ideas to
discuss on Wednesday night!!

We will probably have a drink and a nibble or two. If you could bring a
small plate of something, that would be good.

When: 7:30pm, Wed 12th December 2012
Where: Karori Arts and Crafts Centre
