Guest Speaker: Jenny O’Connor

We are fortunate to once again have Jenny O’Connor show us some of her
work. In Jenny’s own words

“For me photography is about telling stories. The story might be
captured in one image or a series of images, it might be captured as
it really was or as an interpretation of what happened – it doesn’t
matter as long as the story touches the viewer in some way”.

Wellington Interclub – Initial Selection of Images

Note that the meeting is at 7:30 on Tuesday 29th (not our normal Wednesday) at the Karori Arts and Crafts Centre.

• Topics for competition are:
  

  Footprints	Bubbles
  Delicate	Frozen
  Things that no longer work	Serenity
  Emotion	Transportation
  Before and after	Looking through

• As a club we have to choose one image for each category.
• To get there we are are having two selection rounds:
  • Tuesday 29th June – Initial selection of 3 images per category
  • Wednesday 4th August – Final selection
• This initial selection will be via digital or print (digital preferred)
• You can submit up to 7 images per category. But bear in mind we are only going to select 3 for the final selection.
• Can you please size to 1024px on the longest side and name them as follows (this will help enormously when loading to the laptop):

  category_your_name_anything.jpg where category is one of:
        footprints      bubbles
        delicate        frozen
        things          serenity
        emotion         transport
        before          looking
   e.g. things_mark_berger_old_car.jpg

• Images can be from archive. The only thing is that they should not have been shown at a previous interclub.
• For the initial selection on 29 June we we will select the top 3 entries for each category by popular vote.
• For the final selection on 4 August, we will use an external judge/selector.
• For this final selection, images should be printed, but not necessarily matted.

Guest Speaker: David Arthur

The key ingredient for any Photograph is Light. David, a member of the
Wellington Photographic Society and an active participant in the
Society’s f-stop special interest group, has a keen appreciation of this.

David is going to show some of his work and in particular the series on
painting with light.
