Hugh Davies will talk about his recent trip on the freighter/cruise ship
that trades between Tahiti and the Marquesas archipelago in French
Polynesia.

Using some of his images as examples, we will also talk about what the
photographer brings to the photograph e.g.

  • At time of taking photo
  • When curating the images
  • Applying post-processing to individual images

Lastly

Two quotes from Elliott Erwitt, magnum photographer who IIRC spoke
at the 2004 PSNZ National Convention held here in Wellington.

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something
interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with
the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
— Elliott Erwitt

“You can find pictures anywhere. It’s simply a matter of noticing things
and organizing them. You just have to care about what’s around you and
have a concern with humanity and the human comedy.”
— Elliott Erwitt
