Club Meeting – 26 November 2014

The next meeting is on Wednesday the 26th November. While talking with
Cliff and Heuchan after the Hutt Battle, the subject of what we are doing
for next meeting came up and we thought it would be an idea to do
something related to Monochrome.

So the next meeting will be devoted to Monochrome i.e.

  • What makes a ‘good’ monochrome image?
  • What are the differences between monochrome created from different media?
  • What digital post processing can we use for conversion?
  • How do you shoot or see monochrome images?

The following are the topics/presenters

  • Cliff Threadgold showing his APSNZ and FPSNZ sets both in Monochrome and produced using film, the darkroom and a little bit of something else.
  • Discuss/show what happens when you take a black and white negative and have it scanned to be used for digital post processing. Cliff will be showing this.
  • I will bring along a print that was taken with digital camera and post processed and printed as black and white. And I will also show the workflow/post processing that was done.
  • Some members from of the Black and White Darkroom group will be attending. I have asked that they each bring along a print that they consider to be a good example of a monochrome.
  • And finally, if any of you would like to see how one of your images could be processed, bring along an image, (RAW format is preferable), and we will see what we can do.
