Portraits. There is something about a good portrait that just stands out.
But what is that makes a good portrait? The subject? The lighting? The
camera? The lens? The photographer? The context?

We’ll take a look at the work of an acknowledged fashion and portrait
photographer, David Bailey. After watching this we should be able to
discuss some of these questions.

If you would like, find a portrait that you find significant and bring
it along. It could be yours or someone else’s.

There was a good turn out last week and it was good to hear that images
were shown.

This week a is more of the same. However, it might pay to also start
thinking about the Wellington Interclub Print Competition. The Hutt
Camera Club are hosting this year and it is all print. However, that
does not mean the topics are any easier.

If you can make it to this, that would be good. Traditionally, the
camera club have not had a good representation as it has previously
been on a week day. This year it is on a weekend.

Lastly

I have mentioned Tony Bridge before. A fine photographer, artist and
writer. His most recent blog post about judging/critiquing other’s
images is really worth a read.
