This week’s meeting – Let’s Get Physical

When
Wed 25th June 2014, 19:30
Where
Karori Arts and Crafts Centre

The meeting on the 25th is about matting and printing. We will take a
look at different ways that we do matting.

At the end of the evening, hopefully your appetite will have been whetted
to do some more yourself. Or if you don’t want to go down that route, you
should have an appreciation of what is involved.

Can I ask those who have matting gear to bring their stuff along? And be
prepared to matte up a photograph of your own or to do one for someone
else?

And for others if you have a 5×7 or 8×12 photo that would like matted,
can be you bring that along as well?

I have some mattes and some backing board that we can use. And will be
bringing along my gear as well as the Karori Camera Club Photo Frames.

Club Meeting – 11 June 2014

Apologies for the short notice this week.

Last meeting was a members’ evening and it was quite inspiring and
rewarding to see the work being produced.

This week, we are going to finish off the talk on Composition – there are
three topics to go and should take half an hour.

  • Composition Techniques
  • It’s All About You
  • Goal Setting

Then I suggest that we take a look at a presentation on Lightroom
explaining the following topics which should also be about half an
hour.

  • Editing Basics
  • Selective Editing Tools
  • Semi-Advanced (but too advanced) Editing Tools

Lastly

Although we can improve our skills by making photographs and taking courses, we can also learn a lot by reading critically acclaimed photographers. One such person is Alfred Stieglitz. See To Hold A Moment: Alfred Stieglitz – Faded + Blurred

Club Meeting – 28 May 2014

Well, that was an informative meeting last Wednesday. We managed to get
through five of the eight topics. For more information on see the
following:
http://www.ricksammon.com
http://kelbyone.com/course/rsammon_ecomposition

For the next meeting on the 28th May, we will have a members’ showcase.

Suggested topics include

  • Getting out with our camera and trying out some of the techniques that were discussed on Wednesday. Remember, we improve by learning and practising.
  • If you have images from the Club outing in February, this is a good time to show them.

So bring along up to a dozen (12) photos to show the group so that we can
discuss. Less than 12 is absolutely fine.

Can people please size images to 1280px on the longest side?

Can people please name images as follows?

Lastly

A good form of improviing one’s photography is to practise. One way of
doing this is to try and take a photo a day. Below are two people who are
members of local clubs in the Wellington Region who take a photo a day:
