Club Meeting – 4 November 2009

Just a reminder that the meeting on Wednesday is to choose images for Hutt Battle. We have to select 40 images as follows

10 - Senses
10 - Black and White Portrait
20 - Open

Some suggestions that will help ease the selection process:

  • Can you bring up to 12 images? If we get 10 people turning up that will be 120 images from which to select 40.
  • It would help if you could identify your images clearly using the followng naming convention
    category_your_name_title
where category is one of senses, blackwhite, open.
    e.g. blackwhite_mark_berger_watching.jpg or senses_john_smith_untitled_1.jpg
  • If possible, can you please size the images so that they are 1024px on the longest side.

Club Meeting – 21 October 2009

Club Meeting – 7 October 2009

Hope you all are ready for our outdoor photoshoot on Wednesday 7 October.

We will meet at the Bucket Fountain, Cuba Street at 7:00. There are plenty of photo opportunities around there. Afterwards we will catch up over a coffee to discuss the state of the nation.

Club Meeting – 16 September 2009

Bring potential images for hte Hutt/Karori Battle in November. These are all projected images (no prints). The topics are

Senses – 10 images per club
“Let your imagination wander for this category. Any of the faculties by which stimuli from outside or inside the body are received and felt, as the faculties of hearing, sight, smell, touch, taste, and equilibrium.”
Black and White Portrait – 10 imags per club

Open – 20 imags per club

There could also be a surprise member's spot. You will have to turn up on the night to find out. I don't think the member concerned even knows what s/he will be talking about.

Club Meeting – 2 September 2009

The meeting on the 2nd September is going to be used to select images for the Central Regional rather than the Hutt Battle which has been postponed to 10 November.

There are 3 separate competitions in the Central Regional:

  • InterClub Digital Competition (8 images, open, not a set)
  • InterClub Print Competition (6 printed, open, not a set)
  • Individual Salon for delegates to the convention.

On the 2nd we are going to concentrate selecting for the InterClub competitions. If there is time, we will offer advice on entries for the Individual Salon.

Everyone should bring along 6 images max, either printed or digital.

Full details are in the email sent out and in the September Newsletter.

Wellington Regional Interclub Battle – Tuesday 18 August, 7.30pm

NOTE: This replaces our Wednesday 19 August meeting.

This should be a great night‟s entertainment. Kapiti Camera Club are hosts this year, and
they say “You must be prepared to have some fun (this is to be a FUN evening not a serious
one)”. They‟ll also be providing supper at the end of the battle.

We‟ll car-pool to go there, so let‟s meet outside the Karori Arts & Crafts Centre at 6.50 pm.
The venue is Te Wananga o Aotearoa, Heriot Drive, Porirua.

Thanks to WPS for map and directions.

Club Meeting – 15 July 2009

Guest speaker: Kate MacPherson

Kate will be showing photos taken by kids she taught in Ethiopia.

Club Meeting – 1 July 2009

Close up and personal

This will be a fun session experimenting with close-up photography for that very challenging Hutt battle topic “Senses”.

Bring your camera with macro setting or camera with macro lens / close-up filters / bellows. If you have none of these and are using an SLR camera with a detachable lens, you can actually create a macro lens by putting your standard lens on back to front with the help of an adaptor ring.

This is a great opportunity to stretch the boundaries of your creativity and learn techniques you can use in your other photograph

Club Meeting – 17 June 2009

Guest speaker: Liz Finnie

Liz is a very talented and creative photographer who has had some
interesting travels lately. You'll also be inspired by her breathtaking
artistic images.
